The Drumla (Jew Harp) Dan Moi in BASS D2 tuning is finely handcrafted and impresses with its easy playability, brilliant sound rich in overtones, and price. The jaw harp is tucked away in a round bamboo case, which is wrapped in colorful fabrics. It is also available in various tunings.
With the Dan Moi drumla, you can play slowly-meditatively, but also quickly-dynamically. Its sound resembles electronic music or the sound of analog synthesizers and all without technology. Whether it's captivating improvisations, touching melodies or relaxing sounds, there are no limits to your creativity! And the little Dan Moi makes it possible. Playing this drumla is very simple.
Our absolute favorite instrument!
By the way: ncas (pronounced "ncha"), as the H'mong call their jaw harp, is traditionally made of brass in northern Vietnam. Among the H'mong, both men and women play this small instrument, which is used for celebrations, relaxation and courting. With ncas melodies, entire stories can be told and emotions can be particularly well musicalized. Lovers establish first contact using dan moi, revealing their feelings, introducing themselves and their families, "talking" about their desires and teasing each other in long musical dialogues. It's fascinating what a large sound spectrum such a small instrument has!
