You can play the NCAS Jew Harp slowly or quickly - dynamically. Its sound is reminiscent of electronic music or analogue synthesizers. You can improvise thrillingly, play moving melodies, and soothing sounds.
All of this is possible with this small Vietnamese Jew Harp.
It's our favourite pocket-sized instrument.
By the way: ncas (pronounced "ncha"), as the H'mong people call their jaw harp, is traditionally made of brass in northern Vietnam. Among the H'mong, both men and women play this small instrument, which is used for ceremonies, relaxation, and courtship. With ncas melodies, entire stories can be told and emotions particularly well expressed. Lovers make first contact with dan moi, reveal their feelings, introduce themselves and their families, "talk" about their desires, and tease each other in long musical dialogues. It's fascinating how much sound spectrum such a small instrument has!
