Heating herbal bundles, also known as smudging or incense, have a long history of use. American Indians used them in ritual ceremonies to cleanse homes, ward off various diseases and drive away evil spirits.

Currently, these herbal bundles are mainly used for their cleansing and disinfecting effects. They are used not only in meditations and prayers but also to cleanse spaces, objects, and aura from negative energies.

Use

Using these bundles is straightforward. Simply light the flammable end, let it burn briefly, and then extinguish the flame. Allow the bundle to smolder in a suitable container, such as a shell, small plate, or non-flammable bowl. The incense smoke can then be dispersed around the room using your hand or a feather. After use, you can snip off the burnt ends and store the remainder of the bundle for future use.
