Djembe is a drum originating from West Africa. It was initially spread from Mali, Guinea, and Ivory Coast.

It is made from a hollowed-out piece of wood - a tree trunk. Djembe has a characteristic shape of a narrowed body, which is smaller at the bottom than at the top. The drum head is usually covered with goat skin. For some djembes, thicker hides from cows, buffalos, or deer are also used...

Djembe is not just a musical instrument, but it also plays an important role in African culture and tradition, often used in ceremonies and celebrations.

When playing the djembe, the player sits or has the djembe suspended on straps with the drum between their legs. Different parts of the djembe produce different tones, so the djembe player can play a range of tones, from deep bass tones to sharp, high tones.

In West Africa, Djembe is often used together with other instruments: dunun, chekere, bells, and krin - long drum.

Djembe is also used in various other music genres around the world.
