What material is the handpan made of?
In this price range, you will typically only find handpans made of nitrided steel, which has a shorter resonance than the stainless steel used in our handpan.
In addition, our handpan is made from steel with a thickness of 1.2 mm and not 1mm as is common in this price range among competitors.
We did not want to save on the "wrong" place and make compromises in sound quality.
How is our handpan made?
First, two mechanically pre-shaped half-shells in the shape of a wok are firmly connected. Then the tone fields are precisely hammered into the material by an experienced master. Once the "rough structure" is in place, the individual tones are carefully tuned. This process is the most time-consuming and requires the most experience and a sharp experienced ear. To protect the handpan, there is a protective ring made of high-quality robust rubber around it.
The surface of the handpan is then polished. We have recorded every handpan on video and we also check the tuning of the instrument before shipping. Handpans are delivered to us in precise packaging so that their tuning does not change during transport.

Handling and care of the handpan
Even though a padded bag is part of the delivery, as with other musical instruments, we recommend handling the handpan carefully and playing it properly.
Keep in mind that the handpan is not a drum to be hit hard but a delicate percussion instrument. We recommend avoiding playing like African drums and strong palm strikes.
Moreover, it won't hurt if you clean its surface every now and then with a soft cloth or carefully treat it with a little oil (e.g., Ballistol). And the rubber ring will appreciate occasional spraying with rubber care (e.g., silicone oil).
