Product description

With the Hluru Handpan, you no longer have to compromise on sound, price, material quality, and craftsmanship.

This 56cm model, with its 9 tones and d Amara scale, is ideal for beginners, but its quality makes it suitable for professional musicians as well.

It has a beautiful gold finish and the central bass tone (ding) is tuned to D3. The other tones are A3 C4 D4 E4 F4 G4 A4 C5. The tuning is 440 Hz.

Since 2009, we have been selling musical instruments that we source and have manufactured in authentic workshops around the world. This handpan is made by the best Chinese masters. In 2010, when handpans became very popular, our partners began developing their first handpans, which have been getting better year by year.

We can now present the latest and best generation of our Hluru Handpans, which fully meet our quality standards and we believe can easily compete with significantly more expensive Handpans on the market.

What material is the handpan made of?

In this price range, you will usually only find hand pans made of nitrided steel, which have a shorter resonance than the stainless steel used in our handpan.

In addition, our handpan is made of 1.2 mm thick steel, not 1mm as is common in this price range with competitors.

We did not want to save at the "wrong" place and compromise on sound quality.

How is our handpan made?

First, two mechanically preformed half-shells in the shape of a wok are firmly joined. Then the tone fields are precisely hammered into the material by an experienced master. Once the "rough structure" is in place, the individual tones are carefully tuned. This process is the most time-consuming and requires the most experience and sharp skilled ear. To keep the hand pan safely protected, there is a protective ring of robust high-quality rubber around it.

The surface of the handpan is then polished. We record every single handpan on video and we personally check the tuning of the instrument before dispatch. Handpans are delivered to us in precise packaging so that their tuning does not change during transport.

Who is the Hluru Handpan intended for?

We recommend our Hluru Handpan for beginners as well as professional musicians. You will receive an easy-to-play handpan from us with an excellent price-performance ratio.

The D Amara tuning is currently the most popular handpan tuning and is attractive not only for handpan novices but also for those who want to play intuitively and do not want to struggle with a certain sequence of notes or dissonant tones. The long sustain allows you to enjoy it relaxed and meditative.

And those who like to take their hand pan for a sit-in in the park or at a campfire may not want to have an instrument worth several thousand dollars with them. The Hluru  Handpan is ideal for this purpose because it not only sounds really good but is also robustly built, cleanly tuned, and rust-resistant.

In our opinion, it is definitely possible to play professionally on stage with the Hluru Handpan.

Handling and care of the handpan

Even though a padded bag is included in the delivery, as with other musical instruments, we recommend that you handle the handpan carefully and play it correctly.

It should be noted that the handpan is not a drum into which you can beat strongly but a delicate percussion instrument. We recommend avoiding playing it like African drums and strong palm strikes.

Furthermore, it will not hurt if you clean its surface every now and then with a soft cloth or gently treat it with a little oil (e.g., Ballistol). And the rubber ring will appreciate occasional spraying with rubber care (e.g., silicone oil).

We recommend buying a professional hard cover for your handpan, which you can put into the bag and your handpan will be even better protected. You can find it in our offer.

What distinguishes Hluru Handpan from other handpans in this price category?

We have played on various cheap and expensive handpans. Our Hluru Handpan clearly shows the long experience and careful engineering of the instrument manufacturers. Compared to other hand pans in this price category, it gives a much higher quality impression. It is cleanly tuned and various tone fields respond similarly well. Thanks to high-quality stainless steel, it also has a beautiful sustain. If you are looking for a cheap hand pan that also sounds really good, then you are at the right address with our Hluru Handpan.

Can you really expect a good instrument for this price?

We say Yes! Because we work directly with the instrument manufacturers without intermediaries and have a low margin on handpans, we can offer this high-quality instrument at an attractive price.

Why is the D Amara scale so suitable for beginners?

It's because all the notes go together so well that you can play them in any order without playing unpleasant (dissonant) notes. This is ideal for beginners and of course for all those who do not want to think too much when playing, but rather want to play more intuitively.
